Après une année passée quelque peu particulière, le Collectif Jeune Cinéma entame en 2021 sa cinquantième année d’existence !
En 1971, le 5 juin plus exactement, s’est tenue la première assemblée générale du CJC, qui deviendra ainsi la première coopérative de cinéastes différents en France, après quelques tentatives qui n’ont jamais abouti. Un demi-siècle plus tard, le CJC devient la plus ancienne des coopératives de cinéma expérimental toujours en activité en Europe.
Tout naturellement, nous avons mis au point plusieurs projets pour cette année à venir, tout en espérant que les conditions sanitaires nous permettront de nous réunir comme il se doit afin de célébrer ce jubilé. Voici un aperçu des festivités :
La Cinémathèque Temporaire du Collectif Jeune Cinéma
Le Collectif Jeune Cinéma s’invite à Mains d’Œuvres (lieu artistique alternatif à Saint-Ouen, dans la banlieue nord parisienne) durant toute l’année afin de projeter plus d’un tiers des films de son catalogue et de pouvoir constituer, sur une base régulière, un espace d’échange autour du cinéma expérimental, entre cinéastes, critiques, cinéphiles, étudiants, etc.
Les films seront projetés selon leur date de production, dans l’ordre chronologique inverse : les séances n’auront d’autre thème que la diversité esthétique des films intégrés au catalogue du CJC. Ce seront au final plus de 80 séances qui auront lieu chaque vendredi soir, ainsi qu’un samedi entier par mois durant toute l’année (nous déborderons sur 2022 s’il le faut) ; le tarif de participation à ces séances sera en prix libre.
La programmation sera annoncée dès que les salles seront autorisées à rouvrir. Cet espace sera par ailleurs ouvert à des séminaires, travaux pratiques, mais aussi à des ateliers, quel que soit l’âge des participant.e.s : enseignant.e.s, associations, n’hésitez pas à nous contacter !
Des séances en France et à l’étranger
Les 50 ans du CJC seront à l’honneur dans plusieurs program-mations de festivals et dans des cinémas à travers le monde,
que ce soit par des programmations thématiques, historiques, géographiques…

Festival des Cinémas Différents et Expérimentaux de Paris
La 23ème édition du Festival des Cinémas Différents de Paris sera articulée aux 50 ans et fera écho aux autres événements de 2021 liés au jubilé. Le programme du FCDEP soulignera le caractère à la fois national et international du mouvement des coopératives et de tous les mouvements collectifs auxquels le CJC a pris part.
Un rafraîchissement de notre plateforme numérique
Pour cet anniversaire, nous allons mettre au point un nouveau site internet, qui verra le jour au milieu de l’année, afin de pouvoir plus facilement naviguer au sein de notre catalogue mais aussi parmi les multiples archives papier et audio que nous mettrons en ligne tout au long de l’année et qui seront réunies au sein d’un centre de documentation numérique.
Ce site permettra aussi de proposer un espace dédié à des séances en ligne, dont le programme sera établi en parallèle avec la Cinémathèque Temporaire. Là encore, la programmation sera annoncée dans les prochains mois.
Une production éditoriale
Car un tel anniversaire est aussi l’occasion de faire le point sur notre histoire, nous profiterons de cet événement pour mettre à dispositions divers textes retraçant à la fois l’histoire du CJC mais aussi du cinéma expérimental en France, dont le CJC est indissociable. Un premier texte a par ailleurs été rédigé par Raphaël Bassan, cofondateur de notre structure, et publié sur derives.tv / Dérives autour du cinéma, partenaire de notre jubilé — d’autres suivront.
Un comité de parrainage
Nous avons demandé à plusieurs personnalités proches du CJC de bien vouloir parrainer ce jubilé. Un comité a été constitué, composé de Christa Blümlinger, Jean-Pierre Bouyxou, Nicole Brenez, Jean Paul Fargier, Hubert Haddad, Dominique Païni, Jonathan Pouthier.

After a somewhat unusual year, Collectif Jeune Cinéma begins its fiftieth year of existence in 2021!
In 1971, on June 5 to be exact, the first general assembly of the CJC was held. The CJC will then – after a few unsuccessful attempts — become the first cooperative of different filmmakers in France. Half a century later, the CJC is the oldest of the experimental film cooperatives still operating in Europe.
We have developed several projects for this coming year, hoping that the sanitary conditions will allow us to meet in order to celebrate this jubilee properly. Here is an overview of our festivities:
Collectif Jeune Cinéma’s Temporary Cinémathèque
Collectif Jeune Cinéma goes to Mains d’Œuvres (an alternative
art venue in Saint-Ouen, in the northern suburbs of Paris) throughout the year in order to screen more than a third of the films in its catalog and to be able to create, on a regular basis, a space for exchange around experimental cinema, between filmmakers, critics, film buffs, students, etc.
The films will be screened according to their date of production,
in reverse chronological order: there won’t be any thematic program, we will focus on the aesthetic diversity of the films in the CJC’s catalog. More than 80 screenings will take place every Friday evening, as well as one full Saturday per month throughout the year (we will extend this to 2022 if necessary); the participation fee for these screenings will be set on a pay-what-you-can basis.
The program will be announced as soon as cinemas are allowed to reopen. This space will also be open to seminars and workshops — with no age restrictions. Teachers, associations, do not hesitate to contact us!
Screening programs in France and abroad
The 50th anniversary of the CJC will be celebrated in several festivals and cinemas around the world, through programs that
will deal with the CJC production thematically, historically, geographically etc.

Festival des Cinémas Différents et Expérimentaux de Paris
The 23rd edition of Festival des Cinémas Différents de Paris will be focused on our 50th anniversary and its program will resonate with the other events jubilee events we’re planning for 2021. The FCDEP program will emphasize the national and international characters of the cooperative movement and of all the collective movements in which the CJC took part.
Refreshing our digital platform
For this anniversary, we are going to develop a new website, which will be launched midyear, in order to improve browsing through our catalogue, but also through the multiple paper and audio archives that we will publish online throughout the year and which will be gathered in a digital documentation center.
The new website will also offer a space dedicated to online screenings, the program of which will be established in parallel with the Temporary Cinémathèque. Once again, the program will be announced in the coming months.
An editorial project
This anniversary also being an opportunity in history-making, we will take advantage of this event to make available various texts retracing both the history of the CJC and of experimental cinema in France, as we believe these two elements are inseparable. The first text was written by Raphaël Bassan, co-founder of our structure, and published on derives.tv / Dérives autour du cinéma — one of our jubilee partners. Others will follow.
