The “Solo Mujeres” yearly exhibition was created in 1987 to provide a space where the creative expression and voices of women could be heard and where their art could be seen.

The original concept for this yearly exhibit was Influenced by the language of the Chicano movement of the 70’s that pushed the boundaries of traditional Latin American culture and used art to express political and social resistance, and create spaces that advocated for self-determination, gender equality, and social justice.
